Where to Start

Let’s start at the very beginning…..

This is my favorite question. Where do I begin? The beginning of course! No no, that isn’t helpful, even if it made me laugh. Where to start is whatever and wherever you want to start. I assume you are here because you want it to be simple. And easy. So let’s make it that way!

One Small Change

First things first. Pick one thing to change. Is it what you clean your counters with? Is it what you wash your face with? Is it what you are drinking right now and should not be? I’m drinking bourbon and I’m probably not going to change that….right now.

Today, your challenge is to change one thing. And then tomorrow, or next week, you can change something else. It doesn’t have to be all the things all at once. I’ve heard that to start eating healthier, you don’t just throw out all the unhealthy food, you start adding in more healthy options with what you are already doing. Then in time, you will want to stop eating the unhealthy options.

So here are two suggestions to help you start today. Add citrus to your morning glass of water or go for a 30 minute walk.

Citrus in Your Water

Studies show that drinking more water can maintain the balance of body fluids. Now, to enhance your water drinking, try adding some citrus to your water. The acid in Lemons and Limes will break down food helping with digestion. Grapefruit can actually boost your metabolism adding in weight loss. How do I make it easy for myself? I use Lemon oil. I don’t have to peel and juice lemons. It never goes bad. I can carry it with me wherever I go. Added benefit, I don’t have to use lemons sitting out on the restaurant bar that have been touched by strangers.

Go for a 30 minute walk

Did you know that for every half mile walked per day, you can decrease your chance of obesity by 5%? Walking. Not running. I’d like to think I am a runner, but I was not gifted with that athleticism. But I can walk. So that is what I am doing this week. Now, it doesn’t have to be every day. Set a goal to walk 30 minutes, three times this week. Find a podcast you’ve been meaning to give a listen. Or download a new book. You can even head over to Americawalks.org to find a walking partner.
